NCL passenger celebrates 100th birthday onboard
17 Jan 2012
Norwegian Cruise Line's (NCL) ship Norwegian Sky provided the setting for a special event this month when a passenger celebrated her 100th birthday onboard.
Zara Holtz, originally from New York and now living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was sailing with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
She was not expecting a birthday celebration but was treated to a special sail-away party on the pool deck, to which all 2,000 guests were invited.
During the event, a master ice carver shaped an enormous block of ice into the number 100 and Mrs Holtz was brought on stage and presented with a cake before her fellow guests, officers and crew sang her happy birthday.
After the celebration, the special guest and her family were invited by the captain and onboard staff to enjoy a meal at Cagney's Steakhouse.
Norwegian Sky boasts ten dining venues and 11 bars and lounges, as well as an onboard spa, casino and other amenities that travellers can make the most of during cruises to the Bahamas from Miami.
