Amateur golfers invited to tee off in Tenerife

Amateur golfers have been invited to pay a visit to Tenerife this spring to take part in a friendly tournament on the island.

The Tenerife Golf Trophy 2012 will take place from 21 to 28 April and is expected to attract visitors from across Europe.

Designed to be informal, fun and welcoming to novices, the competition will give participants the opportunity to play on three of the island's championship courses - Golf Costa Adeje, Golf Las Americas and Abama Golf.

The tournament will run in association with a number of local hotels, including the Sheraton La Caleta, Iberostar Anthelia and Hotel Jardin Tropical.

Tenerife is home to eight 'world-class' golf courses and a selection of properties catering for fans of the sport, making it an 'ideal choice' for golfers and ordinary holidaymakers alike, according to the local tourist board.

One of the destination's leading attractions is Teide National Park, where visitors can see Spain's highest mountain.
