Travellers visiting Sydney later this year will be able to check out the redeveloped Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), which is due to reopen on 31 March following a AU$53m (£35.8m) redevelopment.

The MCA, which is Australia's only institution dedicated to collecting, exhibiting and interpreting the work of contemporary artists, has undergone a number of changes to make it a leading centre for modern art and creative learning.

It will mark its reopening with a week-long series of events including free talks by artists and public activities.

The museum will also present Marking Time, an international exhibition focusing on the ways that artists have visualised time and its passing using a range of art forms and media.

Australia's New South Wales region will also offer some new accommodation options this year, with Contemporary Hotels adding five properties to its portfolio in and around Sydney, including Apartment Noir in the busy Darlinghurst district and Mending Wall in the Blue Mountains.
