Brussels will play host to a series of special events and celebrations this year to showcase the city's food and drink.

Travellers heading to Belgium's capital will be able to join in with everything from chocolate tastings and culinary demonstrations to beer rallies and numerous other initiatives.

Among the highlights of the programme is a series of screenings of 24 international films, which will be shown twice a month and followed by opportunities to try the food featured in the movies.

Screenings will take place at Salle Ledoux at Cinematek and tickets are available from €12 (£10) per person.

People planning to book hotels in Brussels for a summer break might be interested in visiting the Gallery of Dinosaurs at the Museum of Natural Sciences on June 14th or 15th to enjoy a special meal arranged to mark an exhibition exploring the five senses.

Brussels Park will also take part in the celebrations, providing the setting for a presentation of 35 sculptural representations of typically Belgian food and drink, including mussels, chocolate bars, glasses of beer and Brussels sprouts.

The exhibition will run from July to September.
