27 Jan 2012
Travellers planning a tour of Croatia can now visit Veliki Tabor castle in Desinic, which has reopened following a four-year restoration project.
More than £5m was spent on the redevelopment of the Renaissance structure in the Zagorje region.
The castle is one of the most significant cultural monuments in this part of the country and the refurbishment has made it an 'exciting, must-see tourist destination', according to the Croatian National Tourist Office.
As well as seeing the landmark, holidaymakers will have the opportunity to attend a range of events at the castle throughout the year.
Providing an update on the latest news and developments in Croatia, the national tourism agency also revealed that Zagreb has opened its first healthy fast food restaurant.
Green Point, which was created under the guidance of top chef Branko Ognjenovic, uses local, seasonal ingredients in fresh vegetarian dishes such as soy burgers and hemp steak.
