Experience Dublin's 'craic' at the St Patrick's Festival
2 Feb 2012

Travellers visiting Ireland in March will have the opportunity to experience the legendary 'craic' - a quintessentially Irish concept of fun and merriment - at the St Patrick's Festival in Dublin.

The highly popular event will return to the capital city from 16 to 19 March this year.

Festivities will get underway with the St Patrick's Festival Ceili, which will showcase traditional Irish dancing at St Stephen's Green on the first of the four days.

Arguably the highlight of the celebrations is the parade, which will set off from Parnell Square in the centre of Dublin at midday on 17 March.

Leading pageant companies and marching bands from across Ireland flock to the capital to take part in the procession, which will have a theme of 'How? What? Why?' in 2012.

The participants will be dressed and present themselves in ways that answer a selection of science-related questions that children might ask, relating to everything from the formation of rainbows to the human senses.

There will be plenty more to enjoy during this year's festival, including walking tours, treasure hunts and Dublin University boat races.
