Wales to host new literature festival
2 Feb 2012
Carmarthenshire in south-west Wales will provide the setting for a new literature festival this summer.
The event will be held at Dinefwr Park and Castle, an 800-acre National Trust property on the outskirts of Llandeilo in west Wales, from 29 June to 1 July.
Reportedly the first offering of its kind, the bilingual festival will feature a programme combining literature with music, comedy, cinema, children's activities and more.
The line-up of people appearing at Dinefwr Park will include award-winning novelists, local storytellers, performance poets, children's authors and singers.
There will also be outdoor entertainment, shopping stalls, local food outlets and other amenities on offer at the site.
Justin Albert, director of the National Trust in Wales, said: 'Dinefwr is rightly seen as one of the cradles of Welsh culture, so holding the festival at this site will surely play a massive part in further invigorating pride in Welsh literary and musical achievement.'
People visiting Dinefwr Park and Castle during holidays in Wales can also see the site's herd of fallow deer and two forts that represent its Roman heritage.
