KLM to resume onboard sales of tax-free alcohol and cigarettes
8 Feb 2012

KLM has confirmed plans to resume the sale of tax-free alcohol and cigarettes onboard its flights.

The airline will sell alcoholic beverages including Courvoisier XO and Johnny Walker Black, as well as Marlboro Red and Marlboro Gold cigarettes.

Announcing the decision to make these items available tax-free, KLM's executive vice president of inflight services Paul Elich said the airline is constantly adapting its product assortment to meet passengers' wishes.

'By buying alcohol and cigarettes onboard, passengers no longer have to carry heavy bags around the airport,' he added. 'It makes no difference to the weight onboard.'

The airline also offers a web shop offering a more extensive range of products, which customers can order online and pick up during their journey.

KLM operates an extensive international network that includes flights to Amsterdam from London, Manchester, Glasgow and other locations in the UK, as well as services from the Dutch capital to long-haul destinations such as Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.
