Visit Dublin to experience Alice in Funderland

Visit Dublin to experience Alice in Funderland
8 Feb 2012

Travellers catching flights to Dublin for a break in the Irish capital later this year might have the opportunity to see a new musical at the Abbey Theatre.

Alice in Funderland will be performed at the venue from 30 March to 12 May.

At the heart of the story is Alice, an unlucky-in-love young girl who is preparing to attend her sister's wedding when she has a chance encounter with a delivery boy that sends her out into the Dublin night on a bizarre journey.

She comes across all sorts of unusual characters throughout the course of the evening - from slimy politicians to Delores, the Queen of Hartstown - in a show described by the Abbey Theatre as 'a modern-day fairy tale for a tender and bruised nation'.

Among the other highlights of the venue's programme for the coming year is Silent, a play by Pat Kinevane that follows the character of McGoldrig, a homeless man who has lost everything, including his sanity.
