London City launches wine initiatives

London City launches wine initiatives
9 Feb 2012

London City airport has announced details of some new initiatives offering wine-themed experiences for passengers.

In conjunction with catering partner SSP, the airport has introduced a series of weekly wine tastings that will take place every Wednesday until 28 March.

Hosted by sommelier Ben Mulvaney, the events will give travellers the chance to try some of the world's finest wines and learn more about their origins and recommended food pairings.

London City has also launched Wine Flights, an initiative that provides three 50ml samples that can be matched with the a la carte menu at City Bar & Grill, the airport's newest restaurant.

Individual samples can also be purchased so customers can try beverages they are interested in before buying a bottle.

Richard Gooding, chief executive of the Docklands base, said the launch of such an extensive wine programme is a first for any UK airport.

He added: 'We always look for ways to further enhance the customer journey and we think our passengers will embrace this experience.'
