Glasgow exhibition tells tales of the city
10 Feb 2012
Contemporary art enthusiasts can book flights to Glasgow this year to see an exhibition featuring works inspired by the urban environment.
Entitled Tales of the City, the display opened at the Gallery of Modern Art at the end of last year and will continue until 1 December 2012.
It provides an insight into how artists document changes and evolution taking place in cities, sometimes reimagining the urban spaces so many people live in and exploring some of the political and social events that occur within them.
Visitors can see pieces by celebrated artists such as Joseph Beuys, Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Shrigley and Daphne Wright.
The exhibition is the first in a series of displays at the Gallery of Modern Art showcasing the institution's Art Fund International purchases and presenting them alongside its existing collection.
People planning breaks in Glasgow this year will find the venue at Royal Exchange Square in the heart of the city.
