San Francisco will offer an array of natural sights and outdoor experiences for visitors this year, with some of the finest spectacles set to be showcased at events such as the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival.

Japantown, an area in central San Francisco, will burst into colourful life during the festival, which will return for its 45th annual outing on 14 and 15 April and the subsequent weekend of 21 and 22 April.

Members of the local Japanese-American community will be among the 200,000 people gathering to enjoy the festivities, which will culminate in a grand parade on Sunday 22 April.

Other attractions will include a food bazaar and traditional arts and crafts demonstrations, while Japanese dancers, martial artists and 'taiko' drummers will provide entertainment.

Keen gardeners and nature lovers staying in San Francisco hotels can visit a number of attractions in the city offering memorable sights throughout the year, such as the flower conservatory and botanical garden in Golden Gate Park.
