People planning a trip to the Czech Republic this year have been encouraged to visit some of the country's Unesco World Heritage sites.

Czech Tourism recommended destinations such as the capital city of Prague, highlighting the unique architecture and historical attractions on offer to visitors.

Activities available in the city break hotspot include seeing the castle and Old Town Square, climbing to the top of Petrin tower and embarking on walks inspired by some of Prague's ghostly tales and folklore.

Travellers exploring the rest of the Czech Republic can head to locations such as the Moravian capital of Brno, which was added to the Unesco World Heritage list on the strength of its distinctive architecture.

Cesky Krumlov in South Bohemia provides opportunities to get out and try activities like rafting, walking and cycling, while culture vultures can check out the Egon Schiele Art Centre.

Czech Tourism also singled out the Lednice and Valtice area for its outdoor pursuits and recommended walking through the Kromeriz chateau gardens and taking a cruise along the Bata canal in Moravia.
