Golf fans urged to visit Orlando
16 Mar 2012

Golf lovers who enjoy combining their favourite sport with a holiday have been encouraged to consider Orlando as their next destination.

Tourism agency Visit Orlando pointed out that the city is home to 176 golf courses and resorts, as well as 23 academies.

Visitors can practice their swing at locations such as the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club, which boasts a Rees Jones-designed, 18-hole course within the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Grand Cypress Resort offers a total of 45 holes across a site designed by Jack Nicklaus, one of the legends of the sport.

It has hosted the LPGA Tournament of Champions and the World Cup.

Other options include Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Resort, the Mystic Dunes Golf Club and the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes.

For those who would rather watch than take part, Florida hosts a range of golf events throughout the year, such as the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, which will be returning to Lake Buena Vista from 8 to 11 November 2012.
