Royal Caribbean will be doubling its ship presence in the UK next year, the cruise line has announced.

The 3,114-guest Adventure of the Seas will make its debut from Southampton in the summer of 2013, while Independence of the Seas will return for its fifth season.

Itineraries available onboard the new addition to the UK port will include seven-night cruises to France and Spain calling at ports such as Vigo, Gijon and Le Havre for Paris.

Adventure of the Seas will also operate 12-night Baltic sailings taking in destinations like Oslo, Copenhagen, Tallinn and Helsinki, as well as 14-night Mediterranean voyages with highlights including Lisbon, Malaga, Barcelona and Cannes.

The vessel boasts features including an inline skating track, a rock climbing wall, shops, restaurants and family facilities.

Announcing Royal Caribbean's plan to bring the ship to Southampton next year, Dominic Paul, the cruise line's vice president and group managing director in Europe, said: 'The UK cruise market has long been a success story for Royal Caribbean International and doubling the number of ships sailing from Southampton is another great milestone.'
