Bmibaby marking tenth anniversary
19 Mar 2012

Bmibaby, the low-cost subsidiary of bmi, is celebrating its tenth birthday this month, having first launched flights to Malaga from East Midlands airport on 20 March 2002.

The carrier now operates services to 26 sun, snow and city destinations from its three main UK airports - East Midlands, Birmingham and Belfast City.

Bmibaby will expand its network this year, with 13 new routes due to be launched from its three bases in the summer.

Flights to Barcelona, Rome and Lisbon from Birmingham and to Corfu, Gibraltar, Murcia and Naples from East Midlands are already on sale, while services from Belfast City to Malaga, Faro, Alicante, Palma, Ibiza and Mahon will be introduced in the coming months.

Julian Carr, the low-cost airline's managing director, said his personal highlight from the last decade was last year's rollout of new aims and values for the company.

'The whole team really pulled together to implement the changes we made to focus on our service proposition, which resulted in us being voted best low-cost airline by the readers of Conde Nast Traveller,' he added.
