Air New Zealand to host putting contest at 30,000ft

Air New Zealand will achieve a world first in inflight entertainment this month when it hosts a golf putting contest at 30,000ft.

Arranged to celebrate the airline's sponsorship of the NZ PGA Pro-Am Championship, the challenge will be open to passengers on selected flights between Auckland and Queenstown from 22 to 26 March.

Travellers interested in taking part can fill out an entry form in the departure lounge and submit their application no later than 15 minutes before the journey is due to begin.

Cabin crew will then draw names to decide who will compete for prizes including return flights for two from Queenstown to any location on the Air New Zealand domestic network and a two-night stay at the Kawarau Hotel in Queenstown.

The winner will also receive VIP passes to watch the NZ PGA Pro-Am Championship, which will be held at the Hills Golf Course in the Otago region on 31 March.
