Paris exhibition explores Matisse's pairs and sets
30 Mar 2012
Modern art enthusiasts staying in hotels in Paris over the coming months can pay a visit to the Centre Pompidou to see the exhibition Matisse - Pairs and Sets.
The display, which opened earlier this month and will run until 18 June, shows how Henri Matisse often represented the same subject over and over in his work.
By creating various pairs and sets of images, colours and other components, Matisse developed a distinctive visual style that can be traced through many of his pieces.
The Centre Pompidou exhibition features 60 paintings and 30 drawings, providing a thorough overview of the artist's career from the end of the 19th century to the early 1950s.
Art lovers might also be interested in paying a visit to the institution during city breaks in Paris this year to see a reconstruction of the studio where celebrated sculptor Constantin Brancusi lived and worked.
This display will remain open until 30 July 2012.
