Etihad Airways to boost Heathrow capacity

Etihad Airways to boost Heathrow capacity
5 Apr 2012

Britons planning trips to the Middle East this year will have more travel options with Etihad Airways, which is set to increase capacity on flights to Abu Dhabi from London Heathrow.

The United Arab Emirates' flag carrier will make more seats available on the route as part of a major expansion of its network over the next 18 months.

Capacity will also be increased between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, while flight frequencies will rise on services to destinations such as Bangkok, Cairo and Dammam.

The airline has already launched new flights to Shanghai, Nairobi and Tripoli this year and has also announced plans to expand its network into South America in mid-2013.

Commenting on the South American route, full details of which are yet to be announced, Etihad president and chief executive James Hogan said: 'This a logical next step for us and will mark the sixth continent we serve and our coming of age as a truly global airline.'
