Terracotta Warriors display to open in New York
19 Apr 2012
Travellers staying in hotels in New York later this year will have the chance to see an exhibition entitled Terracotta Warriors: Defenders of China's First Emperor, which will open at Discovery Times Square on 27 April.
Making its debut in the north-east United States, the display will showcase one of the most important archaeological discoveries of modern times - a collection of terracotta soldiers created more than 2,000 years ago to protect the emperor Qin Shihuangdi in the afterlife.
Visitors will be able to see artefacts dating back to 221 BC, including a set of gates from an ancient Han burial chamber being shown for the first time.
The exhibition will also provide an up-close look at ten of the life-sized soldiers and their intricately designed armour.
Discovery Times Square chief executive James Sanna said: 'It's a great honour to have the opportunity to work with these legendary artefacts and craft a one-of-a-kind experience immersing visitors into a time that was so influential in shaping China's history.'
