People visiting Dumfries & Galloway in southern Scotland this year will be invited to explore the local culinary scene at two food festivals.

Flavour Taster will take place over the May bank holiday weekend from 4 to 7 May and will offer a preview of the larger Flavour Fortnight, which will run from 25 August to 9 September this year.

Various activities will give visitors the opportunity to discover the area's food and drink produce, including foraging sessions, gourmet wild food tastings, workshops and chef demonstrations.

Liz Ramsay, project manager for event organiser Savour the Flavours, said the festivals have been arranged to encourage people to 'take a bite out of Dumfries & Galloway'.

Commenting on next month's inaugural Flavour Taster, Ms Ramsay added: 'I'm thrilled that our local food businesses are supporting this new festival by hosting such a delicious range of quality experiences.'

Dumfries & Galloway is located in south-west Scotland, an area that travellers can reach by catching flights to Glasgow.
