Turkey recommended for active holidays

Turkey is a good option for outdoor, action-packed holidays, according to the country's national tourism agency.
A spokeswoman for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office said there are many experiences on offer across the country, particularly for people who like to keep active.
'There are high-adrenaline sports such as white-water rafting, windsurfing and mountain biking available across the country and Turkey is increasingly known as an alternative winter sports destination,' she commented.
Referring to particular destinations, the spokeswoman recommended Alacati on the Aegean coast for its combination of daytime windsurfing, shopping, gourmet food and nightlife.
Travellers interested in city breaks in Turkey could head to Istanbul or Izmir, which offer a range of attractions including markets, historical sites and festivals.
Low-cost carriers such as easyJet and Monarch Airlines operate flights to Dalaman, Antalya and other popular destinations in the country, providing affordable travel options for families, couples and other consumer groups.
