People planning holidays in Guernsey this summer will be able to expand their artistic and cultural horizons at a number of events taking place on the island.

The season will get underway with the third Guernsey Photography Festival, which will run from 24 May to 22 June.

Indoor and outdoor exhibitions will showcase work by celebrated photographers, while various community activities, workshops and seminars will also be available to visitors.

Another highlight of the coming summer will be the Victor Hugo International Music Festival, which will welcome artists including BBC Proms pianist Benjamin Grosvenor and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie at St James' Concert Hall in St Peter Port.

Named after the famous author who was inspired to write some of his most famous novels, including Les Miserables, during his exile in Guernsey, the festival will take place between 16 and 21 July this year.

Book lovers can catch flights to Guernsey between 13 and 16 September to visit this year's Literary Festival, which will feature appearances by War Horse writer Michael Morpurgo and Captain Corelli's Mandolin author Louis de Bernieres.
