Heathrow named best airport for shopping

London Heathrow was among the winners at this year's World Airport Awards at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Vienna, picking up the title of world's best airport for shopping.
This is the third time that the hub has won this particular accolade.
Furthermore, Terminal 5, which serves as British Airways' main base in the UK, was named the world's leading airport terminal following a survey of air passengers across the globe.
Commenting on the success, Heathrow's commercial director John Holland-Kaye said: 'We are proud that our work towards becoming Europe's hub of choice is being recognised by the most important judge - our passengers.'
The airport has more than 52,000 sq m of retail space, with some 340 dining venues and shops representing well-known brands such as Paul Smith, Mulberry, Harrods, Ralph Lauren and Kurt Geiger.
Retailers enjoyed a record year at the base in 2011, with gross turnover increasing by 8.8% year-on-year.
