Delta boosts Atlanta flights from London Heathrow
30 Apr 2012

Delta Air Lines has increased access to the southern United States with the introduction of more flights to Atlanta from London Heathrow.

The carrier is using a Boeing 767-400 to operate a second daily service to its home hub from the UK, with departures from Heathrow at 09:45 BST and arrivals at Hartsfield Jackson airport in Atlanta at 14:20 local time.

As well as providing more direct access to the American city, the frequency change opens up more connections for people travelling throughout the US, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Perry Cantarutti, Delta's senior vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said Heathrow is the preferred airport for corporate customers flying between London and Atlanta, noting that the second daily flight will provide more than 1,000 flat-bed seats on the route every week.

He added: 'With the opening of the new international terminal [in Atlanta] just weeks away, connecting passengers will soon benefit from a state-of-the-art facility offering smoother transfers to hundreds of destinations.'
