BA to offer South Korea flights
8 May 2012
British Airways (BA) will this year provide more access to the Far East for leisure and business travellers alike with a new route to South Korea.
The carrier will operate six weekly flights to Seoul, the country's capital city, from 2 December.
BA is able to launch the new route from London Heathrow following parent company IAG's acquisition of bmi, which opened up slots at the notoriously busy airport.
Passengers will be carried on a Boeing 777 aircraft offering a choice of four classes - economy, premium economy, business and first.
Drew Crawley, BA's commercial director, said the new service will cater for the 'significant growth' the airline has seen in demand for travel to Seoul for both business and leisure purposes.
'It is a vibrant city with a strong economic base, rated eighth in the Global Cities Index this year,' he added.
The carrier last flew to Seoul in 1998 and also provides flights to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and other destinations in Asia.
