Shoppers urged to explore Dusseldorf

Fashion fans have been encouraged to consider Dusseldorf as their next city break destination.
According to the local tourist board, the capital of Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region is regarded as 'one of the hotspots of international fashion'.
The best-known shopping area in Dusseldorf is Konigsallee, which is home to prestigious international brands such as Armani, Bulgari, Prada and Versace.
Often called 'the Ko', this thoroughfare is the busiest luxury retail street in Germany, with up to 6,000 pedestrians walking along it at peak times.
The district will be expanded when the new Ko Bogen area opens in 2013.
Visitors more interested in curios, souvenirs and quirky gifts than high-end fashion can head to the Altstadt, or Old Town, to explore narrow alleyways and lanes full of small shops and independent retailers.
Other areas for keen shoppers to explore during a trip to Dusseldorf include Lorettostrasse and the up and coming Flingern district.
