Travellers hoping to stick to a budget during a trip to Australia this year have been encouraged to seek out some of the free attractions and experiences on offer on the Gold Coast.

This part of Queensland is home to several markets where visitors can browse free of charge and see everything from arts and crafts to produce from local farmers.

Carrara Markets is the biggest permanent marketplace in Queensland, with more than 500 stalls covering an area of approximately ten acres.

For holidaymakers who want to get out and explore, the Gold Coast offers over 600km of cycling routes running through scenic parks and along picturesque coastal stretches.

There are also many nature hotspots to discover, such as Pratten Park, which offers family features including a large playground with a pedal-powered monorail and a pirate ship.

The Swell Sculpture Festival, a free outdoor exhibition showcasing artworks at Currumbin Beach, will run from 14 to 23 September this year.

Visitors will find the Gold Coast in Queensland, a region that travellers can reach by catching flights to Brisbane.
