Now an 'excellent' time to travel to Greece

British consumers have been encouraged to make the most of the economic difficulties currently facing countries such as Greece by taking a holiday in the eurozone region.
Rather than being put off by the bad press surrounding the area, holidaymakers should exploit the newfound strength of the pound against the single European currency, according to travel expert Simon Calder.
Writing in the Independent, Mr Calder said it is now an 'excellent' time to travel to Greece in particular.
'Because of the political uncertainty [in Greece], the number of tourists has fallen,' he said.
'This has the advantage of cutting prices for package holidays.'
Mr Calder also noted that booking a package break provides more protection for customers in the event that their travel provider ceases operating while they are abroad.
Several countries are experiencing the effects of the recent financial problems spreading throughout the eurozone region, including Spain, Portugal and Ireland.
