Spain visitors encouraged to combine cities and beaches

One of the advantages of visiting Spain is the opportunity to visit beach and city destinations in a single trip, according to the country's tourist board.
Enrique Ruiz de Lera, UK director of the Spanish Tourist Office, said the organisation is planning to develop a cross-selling strategy spanning the city and sun holiday markets.
He offered the example of enjoying some time by the sea on the Costa del Sol and exploring the urban attractions of Malaga on a single break.
'Our message would be - go to the beach, enjoy the Spanish sunshine, but why not also go into the mountains for a day or visit a museum?' added Mr De Lera.
The tourist board spokesman went on to say that the initiative aims to introduce a sense of 'dynamism' among holidaymakers and encourage people to discover the full range of experiences that Spain has to offer.
International travellers can reach the country by catching flights to Barcelona, Alicante, Madrid and other cities.
