Virgin Atlantic boosting Jamaica flights
25 May 2012

Virgin Atlantic will provide an extra travel option for people interested in visiting Jamaica during the winter 2012-13 season.

The carrier has announced that it will operate a total of three weekly flights to Montego Bay from London Gatwick from 3 November, with a Friday service complementing existing connections on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Nick Parker, Virgin Atlantic's regional manager for the Caribbean, said the schedule change will provide a boost for tourist and visitor numbers between the UK and Jamaica.

He also revealed that passengers on the Gatwick to Montego Bay route will benefit from a number of improvements to the inflight experience.

'We have committed more than £50m to completely refurbishing the aircraft used on this service, including new wider seats in economy and premium economy and a new touchscreen inflight entertainment system throughout,' said Mr Parker.

Virgin Atlantic will also be offering additional flights to New York and resuming a route to Mumbai later this year, while a service from Heathrow to Nairobi in Kenya will be suspended.
