Spain 'a safe destination for tourists'

Spain 'a safe destination for tourists'
30 May 2012

Spain represents a safe and dependable holiday destination for travellers in volatile and unpredictable times, according to the Spanish Tourist Office.

Enrique Ruiz de Lera, the organisation's UK director, said the country's sense of reliability - despite its economic problems - is a big part of its ongoing appeal for tourists from the UK and elsewhere.

'Spain is a safe haven for holidaymakers and can offer value for money, glorious weather, security and excellent service - not forgetting hospitality,' he commented.

The country's tourism authority has recently been working on ensuring customer loyalty, particularly within the British market.

Mr De Lera revealed that future aims for Spain include reducing its seasonality as a holiday destination and boosting interest in different regions and lesser-known inland areas.

One option for travellers interested in exploring some of the nation's less famous locations is to catch flights to Madrid and visit the communities of Castile-La Mancha and Castile and Leon that border the capital city.
