Carnival Cruise Lines has launched its new 130,000-tonne ship Carnival Breeze, which is currently operating its inaugural voyage bound for Barcelona from Venice.

The 24th vessel in the company's fleet will be deployed on a series of 12-day Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona this summer before heading to Miami in November for a season in the Caribbean.

Highlights of the onboard experience for passengers include the Thrill Theater, which uses special effects to immerse viewers in movies.

Guests can also try out slides and other features at WaterWorks, navigate SportSquare's suspended ropes course and sample the dishes on offer at eateries such as Bonsai Sushi and the Comfort Kitchen.

Carnival president and chief executive officer Gerry Cahill said: 'Carnival Breeze represents the continued evolution of our product, offering a huge array of branded experiences for our guests and inviting public spaces, each with its own personality and character.'

The other 23 ships in the cruise line's fleet operate itineraries in countries and regions such as Canada, New Zealand, the Mexican Riviera, the Baltic and the British Isles.
