19 Jun 2012
Hotels in Edinburgh could prove popular among music fans when a festival returns to the Scottish capital this summer.
The 2012 Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival will run from 20 to 29 July and will bring a host of well-known bands and artists to the city.
Maggie Bell & Blues 'N' Trouble will help get proceedings underway with a show at the Festival Theatre on the first day, while the North Mississippi Allstars Duo will play the Voodoo Rooms.
Other highlights to look out for include a gig by the Kyle Eastwood Band with Martin Taylor at the Festival Theatre on 26 July and an appearance by the World Jazz Orchestra, which will play a Duke Ellington programme at the same venue two days later.
This year's Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival will be the first to feature a carnival, which is set to bring an array of colourful costumes, music, dance, street entertainment and other free attractions to the city centre on 22 July.
