Australia ad campaign off to strong start

Tourism Australia's new global campaign promoting the country has got off to 'an impressive start', the organisation has said.

A signature ad for the agency's There's nothing like Australia initiative has attracted more than 8m views around the world since being launched just over two weeks ago.

Some of the country's most famous sights and leading attractions feature in the advert, including Sydney's harbour, Melbourne's Southbank area, the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru.

The campaign also includes an interactive tablet application allowing users to learn more about the 12 locations featured in the film, which has been downloaded more than 6,000 times.

Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said the use of digital platforms such as Facebook has played a part in the success of the latest promotions.

'Word of mouth is a powerful thing and I think our approach of getting the advocates of Australia to help tell our story for us is really paying off,' he added.
