Air Europa recommends Lima events
28 Jun 2012

Air Europa has encouraged travellers visiting Lima over the coming months to absorb the city's culture by attending some local events.

The carrier, which this week launched a daily service linking London Gatwick to Peru's capital city via Madrid, highlighted celebrations such as the Feast of Santa Rosa de Lima on 30 August.

A procession, street entertainment and all sorts of family activities will pay tribute to the patron saint of the city and the Americas.

Also returning this year is the International Spring Festival, which will celebrate the beginning of spring in the southern hemisphere during the last week in September.

Visitors will be treated to memorable sights including colourful parades, beauty queen pageants and the 'marinera' - Peru's national dance.

Air Europa's launch of daily flights from London Gatwick means British travellers can reach Lima with connection times of less than three and a half hours in Madrid.

Colin Stewart, the airline's UK general manager, said: 'From three weekly departures in 2010, Lima has grown into a key route for us and I'm delighted we can now provide UK travellers with even greater choice and flexibility when flying to Peru.'
