Malaysia Airlines unveils A380 in special livery
2 Jul 2012

Malaysia Airlines has officially unveiled its first Airbus A380 in a special celebration livery, ahead of the plane's introduction into commercial service.

Travellers catching flights to Kuala Lumpur from London with the carrier will be able to experience the aircraft, which will operate on the route three times a week.

Airbus has taken six orders from Malaysia Airlines for the A380, with a layout providing seating for 494 passengers in three classes.

The Asian operator said demand from customers has been 'very encouraging', with the first class cabin fully booked on the first five departures from Kuala Lumpur and three of the first seven services out of London.

In business class, load factors for the first seven journeys in each direction are about 85% from Malaysia's capital city and 90% from the UK hub.

Malaysia Airlines will take delivery of a second Airbus A380 in August 2012, allowing the aircraft to be deployed on daily flights on the Kuala Lumpur to London route.
