Delta expands inflight Wi-Fi to long-haul fleet

Delta Air Lines has announced that its inflight Wi-Fi service is being expanded to cover its long-haul international fleet, which encompasses more than 150 aircraft including the Airbus A330 and Boeing 757.
The carrier already has a deal in place with onboard internet provider Gogo for air-to-ground connections in the United States.
Satellites will be used to expand the programme and provide international coverage.
Delta already operates the world's largest Wi-Fi-equipped fleet, according to the airline, and by 2015 will have approximately 1,000 planes around the world providing internet access for passengers.
Tim Mapes, the carrier's senior vice president of marketing, said advancements in technology have been at the heart of improvements in the travel experience for customers.
He added: 'With our expansion of international Wi-Fi options across our fleet, Delta customers will be able to stay connected throughout their journey.'
Other fleet changes being carried out by the company over the coming years will include the introduction of flat-bed business class seats across all international wide-body planes.
