Kangaroo Island launches first food and wine trail

Travellers planning a trip to Kangaroo Island during a holiday in South Australia can learn more about local produce on new food and wine tours.
The Kangaroo Island Farm Gate and Cellar Door Trail features a number of establishments that focus on quality rather than quantity, where visitors can meet food and wine makers and sample their creations.
A new brochure features three suggested itineraries for visitors with different amounts of time to spend on the island, providing information about art, scenery and natural attractions as well as culinary experiences.
The destination is known for all sorts of products, from olive oil, honey, native berry jams and cheeses to seafood such as oysters, prawns, crayfish and snapper.
Commenting on the new tours, Tourism Kangaroo Island chairman Pierre Gregor said: 'There is so much to enjoy here and we hope this trail will help spread the word.
'The offering made through the island's food, wine and art experience helps to value-add the tourism experience.'
Kangaroo Island is located 112km south-west of Adelaide.
