Virgin to offer 'naughty novel' as inflight entertainment
18 Jul 2012

Virgin Atlantic has announced plans to make bestselling novel Fifty Shades of Grey available through its inflight entertainment system to save passengers the embarrassment of reading it.

EL James' book, which is known for its risque content, has sold millions of copies around the world since being released just a couple of months ago and the film rights have been purchased for £3 million by Universal and Focus Features.

The story tells of a young woman who enters a sexually charged and adventurous relationship with a wealthy businessman.

Fay Burgin, Virgin Atlantic's head of PR, said Fifty Shades of Grey has quickly gained notoriety as a 'naughty novel' and the airline wants to give passengers the chance to enjoy it 'away from prying eyes'.

'Of course, we can't promise to spare any blushes and can't be held responsible for any risque behaviour that listening to the recording inspires,' she added.
