BA to screen sports films onboard

British Airways (BA) has announced that its celebrations of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will include inflight screenings of sports movies nominated by athletes.

People catching flights with the airline during the Games will be able to see 30 titles selected by members of Team GB and Paralympics GB, including overall favourite Coach Carter, a basketball movie starring Samuel L Jackson.

Cool Runnings took second place, followed by Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday, which was picked by gymnast Louis Smith.

Triathlete Helen Jenkins chose boxing classic Rocky, while three-times Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie voted for Formula One documentary Senna.

Some of the more surprising entries in the list included Teen Wolf, Space Jam and The Waterboy.

BA sponsorship manager Luisa Fernandez said: 'We know that customers love catching up on films when they fly and now they have the opportunity to relive some of the classic sports films of all time in preparation for the London 2012 Games.'

The airline's Facebook users picked Chariots of Fire as their top sports movie, followed by Cool Runnings and Rocky.
