Travellers urged to book airport parking in advance
19 Jul 2012
Travellers planning to leave a vehicle parked at the airport while they head off on a break this year have been urged to save money by booking a space in advance.
Research commissioned by Holiday Extras found that 44% of British holidaymakers - almost 11m people - drive to the airport without pre-booking their parking slot, potentially missing out on savings of £397m a year.
Nearly a third (29%) of the people surveyed did not believe the potential savings were worthwhile, while 35% said they simply could not be bothered to pre-book or were too busy, Breaking Travel News reported.
These 'quite shocking' results show that the benefits of pre-booking airport parking are not being clearly expressed to UK consumers, said Holiday Extras chief executive Matthew Pack.
He added: 'You don't have to book months ahead - booking the day before your flight, or even on the way to the airport will save you some cash.'
