Virgin Atlantic releases London City Guide app

Virgin Atlantic has announced details of an iPhone and iPad app highlighting some of the experiences on offer in London at a time when the attention of the world is on the city.
The free London City Guide provides information on events, restaurants, tour itineraries and hotels in London.
It also features some less conventional content, including interviews with famous residents of the capital, little-known facts and lists for culture enthusiasts, one of which covers the top films featuring the destination.
Augmented reality technology allows users to point their phone at a well-known attraction or landmark to see a digital overlay providing more information about the site.
Chris Rossi of Virgin Atlantic said the airline's intention was to offer something different to the traditional destination guide by coming up with its own unique ideas and recommendations.
He added: 'The app's meant for visitors, but is also attracting Londoners looking to explore what's going on where in their home city.'
The airline also offers a general application allowing passengers to check in, play games and track their miles.
