Air New Zealand updates aircraft livery
23 Jul 2012

Air New Zealand has announced that the aircraft in its fleet will feature an updated livery from next year.

Chief executive officer Rob Fyfe revealed that the company's symbol, the 'koru', will remain but will be set against a black background on the tail, in place of the current blue and green tones.

Furthermore, the airline is modernising the lettering on the planes, using a design that will also feature on all signage and communication channels by the end of the year.

Air New Zealand has been using black as its corporate colour since taking part in a promotional campaign with the country's national rugby union team last year.

Mr Fyfe said: 'Black has resonated well with our customers and staff, who identify with it as the colour of New Zealand and a natural choice for our national airline.'

The lettering was developed with Designworks and leading typeface designer Kris Sowersby, who said the aim was to create a style that had a sense of history and credibility, while injecting some 'momentum and modernity'.
