Qatar Airways retains 'world's best airline' title

Qatar Airways was this month named the world's best air carrier for the second consecutive year.
It received the accolade at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, which was held at the Farnborough Air Show.
Middle Eastern and Asian operators dominated the honours, with Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways, Emirates, Thai Airways and Malaysia Airlines all ranked among the top ten carriers.
Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker described the award as a 'fantastic recognition' of the work put in by the company's staff.
He added: 'I am extremely proud of the praise given once again by the very people who fly, the travelling public, for their support and faith in Qatar Airways.'
Other winners at the awards event included Turkish Airlines (best European carrier), Air Transat (world's best leisure airline) and British Airways (best transatlantic operator).
Qantas, Australia's national carrier, was recognised for the quality of its premium economy class.
