Travel expert recommends best-value destinations

Travel expert and writer Simon Calder has offered some advice for people planning a budget getaway this year, pointing out that there is plenty of choice on offer to consumers.
He recommended a number of countries, including those that have been most affected by some of the recent financial issues troubling the eurozone.
'Greece is looking particularly good value and Portugal is the country where maybe your money will go furthest,' Mr Calder commented, before going on to add that Portugal 'always delivers good value'.
The travel expert also encouraged Brits to consider destinations close to home, such as France, which he said is 'well worth considering' for an affordable holiday.
Mr Calder also noted that France offers 'fantastic' local markets and many other culinary experiences for visitors to enjoy.
According to a recent report from the Post Office, Sunny Beach in Bulgaria and Spain's Costa del Sol are among the cheapest destinations on offer to families planning a beach holiday in Europe this summer.
