Vietnam visitors urged to try 'world class' cuisine

Travellers planning to catch flights to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to explore Vietnam have been urged to take the opportunity to try the country's food.
The cuisine on offer in the south-east Asian nation can be ranked alongside the best in the world, according to Iain Stewart, coordinating author of Lonely Planet's Vietnam travel guide.
Mr Stewart recommended trying some of the dishes served up by street vendors as a good way to start.
'The street food scene is incredible, particularly in Hanoi where you can either delve right in yourself and indulge in bun ca (barbecued pork) or bun oc (snail noodle soup), or join a tour,' he said.
Visitors can wash down their meals with fresh beer known as 'bia hoi' or some Vietnamese coffee, which can be taken with sweetened condensed milk.
The Lonely Planet author also recommended the country for weddings and highlighted some of the attractions and experiences that make it unique, such as the fast pace of life in its big cities and the impressive spectacle of locations like Ha Long Bay.
