United unveils first Dreamliner
6 Aug 2012
United Airlines has unveiled its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, an aircraft that is expected to 'revolutionise the flying experience' for passengers.
Fresh out of the paint hangar at Boeing's facility in Washington, the plane showcased an interior layout and customised livery that is exclusive to United.
The carrier will offer 36 seats in business class, 72 premium economy seats and space for 111 economy customers in its Dreamliner, which also features a new lighting scheme, bigger windows and larger overhead bins.
A new design has been applied to the inflight entertainment system with the aim of allowing more intuitive browsing and more detailed content searches.
United highlighted a number of benefits of the 787, including 30% more range and fuel consumption rates 20% lower than aircraft of a similar size.
The airline is the North American launch customer for the new plane and is set to take delivery of its first Dreamliner in September.
