Milkshake stand opens at Birmingham Airport

Milkshake stand opens at Birmingham Airport
10 Aug 2012

Travellers catching flights from Birmingham Airport this summer can get their trip underway in retro American style by visiting a new milkshake stand.

The 1950s-themed Ed's Shakes has opened its doors in the base's departure lounge.

Customers can choose from a range of flavours, from traditional favourites like chocolate, strawberry and vanilla to more adventurous options such as banana and peanut butter, butterscotch and mint chocolate.

Birmingham Airport commercial director Martyn Lloyd said the new outlet is expected to prove 'tremendously popular' with passengers, particularly over the summer months.

He added: 'The 1950s-inspired decor and menu will create an exciting atmosphere inside our departure lounge and allow passengers to grab one of these world famous shakes before they jet off.'

The airport is served by major carriers including Flybe, which recently announced that it will be expanding its network from Birmingham this autumn with the launch of new flights to Amsterdam.

Up to three daily services to the Netherlands' capital city will be available from October.
