Los Angeles welcoming more air travellers

Flights to Los Angeles have been proving a popular option this year, with the city's airport welcoming more passengers between January and June.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) handled over 30.9m travellers in the first six months of the year, up 3.6% from the same period in 2011.
Global travellers have been paying more visits to the city on the United States' west coast, with international passenger numbers rising 3% year on year to 8.3m in the first half of 2012.
Domestic traffic increased by 3.8% as just over 22.6m Americans flew to LAX over the six-month period.
Handling more than 61m passengers a year, Los Angeles International is the sixth busiest airport in the world and third busiest in the US after Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta and O'Hare in Chicago.
It is served by several major American and international carriers, including British Airways, Continental Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines.
